The actual seed of the nutmeg tree.  Freshly ground nutmeg has a much stronger flavor than pre-ground and doesn’t lose its flavor while still in the whole nut form.  A common ingredient in spice cookies and cakes, fruit cobblers and pies, and sprinkled atop eggnog and espresso drinks.  Grown in Indonesia and India.
