Saffron
Spanish saffron is a spice derived from the crocus plant (the stigmas are dried and used as a seasoning and coloring agent.) Called “Red Gold” because of its reddish color and its price – world’s most expensive spice by weight. Fortunately, a little bit goes a long way! A necessary ingredient for paella and wonderful in savory homemade bread or rice dishes.
